Roulette Neighbor Bets Explained

In case you don’t know, Roulette is one of the most popular and exciting games you can find at the casinos. It began in France over 200 years ago, sometime in the 17th century, making it the oldest casino game in history. In French, Roulette actually means “little wheel”, which a lot of people don’t know, unless you speak French of course. Not only is it a pretty simple game to learn, but it also has the potential for paying out some big wins, which are a couple reasons why it’s gained so much popularity over the years, both online and at the land based casinos worldwide.

Throughout its course of time, different versions of the game have been created. Even though there’s different types of Roulette, the changes are not that drastic and the basic fundamentals remain the same for each of them. When doing a comparison, the three most popular ones are French, American and European Roulette. With such a variety, you also have different betting types that allow you to build your own strategy. These bets can range from high to low risk. If you bet high, you may have a lower probability of winning, but your payouts are potentially greater, whereas the low risk bets have a higher probability of scoring a win, however their payouts tend to be lower.

The logic is pretty straightforward, however what can be tricky at times is deciding which sort of betting strategy you will use. This all depends on your bankroll and how much you’re willing to risk. In that case, we’ll be going over some different ones you may or may not know about, as well as the Roulette Neighbor Bets.

Roulette Bets

When going over the basics of Roulette bets, it’s important to understand the different types as well as their odds. Keep in mind, most of them have close to the same house edge. For example, the American version is close to 5.26%, whereas the European version is around 2.63%. The reason why American Roulette has a greater house edge is because the wheel has more slots on it, which is 38, and the European version has 37. This means that you have a greater chance of winning on the European wheel, therefore you may want to consider playing on this version if you have the option.

A majority of the different betting types all fall into one of the following two categories: Inside and Outside bets, or even a combination of the two. Inside bets involve either a single, adjacent or a small group of numbers. The outside bets on the other hand contain a larger group of numbers. In any case, below are some of the different kinds of Roulette bets. Hopefully you’ll be able to learn them so you will be able to decide which is best for you.

  • Roulette Neighbor Bets

Also spelt “Neighbours” (depending where you’re from in the world), is when you make a bet from 5 numbers on the wheel that are located next to each other. All you need to do is choose whatever number you want on the wheel, as well as the two numbers that appear on the left and right side of it (aka the Neighbors). For example, if you choose the number 7 on the wheel, you would also need to bet on 18, 29, 28, and 12.

  • Straight Up Bet

A bet that is made on a single number.

  • Split Bet

Betting on two adjacent numbers, which is between the numbers.

  • Street Bet

When there are three numbers appearing in a row and the bet is placed at the end of the row.

  • Corner Bet

a group of four numbers in which the bet is placed at the corner of where the four numbers touch each other.

  • Five Bet

uses the numbers 0, 00, 1, 2 and 3, and the bet is placed just at the corner next to 0 and 1.

  • Line Bet

involves two rows containing 3 numbers each, where the bet is placed right at the end of the two rows, between each other.

  • Column Bet

contains a whole row of numbers and your bet amount is put on the “2-1” box, which is at the end of the column.

  • Dozen Bet

a group of 12 numbers in which your bet is put on the “1st 12” box, the “2nd 12 box” or the 3rd 12” box.

  • Bet on Color

all of the numbers that are red or all of the numbers that are black, and the bet is mad on all the red number or all of the black numbers.

  • Bet on Odd/Even

Bets that are placed on all the even or odd numbers.

  • Bet on Low/High

When you select either all the low or high numbers and place your bet on numbers 1 – 18 or on 19 – 36.
